![]() Client: BBC Newsround The Brief We were commissioned by BBC Newsround to produce one of a series of five factual animated stories to highlight child poverty. The Approach Working with sensitive and highly personal material is something we excel at. Following a six-month consultation process by the BBC to identify the best case studies, with a focus on six children from different social backgrounds, we spent considerable time with Dillon and his family to fully understanding his story. Combining an innovative 2-D and 3-D animation approach, with a highly sensitive understanding of the issues, we were able to successfully engage both an adult and youth audience with the resulting three-minute feature. The Benefits Following ‘The Wrong Trainers’ screening on BBC 1 on the 1st Dec 2006, the programme succeeded in raising awareness of poverty issues through highly personal first hand accounts and has since been regarded as pioneering a new format for engaging young people with factual content. BBC Newsnight, The Guardian, Radio 4 and The Sun are just a few of the media to discuss our methodology. Find out more: www.societyguardian.co.uk www.bbc.co.uk/newsround Watch Dillon's Story |
